Our Faith

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon - is more than just being a part of something, or being a member of a group. It is something that encompasses every part of my being. Even though I grew up in an Latter Day Saint home I had to gain a testimony of my own that this is the gospel of Christ, that I am willing to do all that it requires to serve Him. It has been the best decision of my life.

Having been taught the gospel, every decision is still my own. But it is the gospel that helps me to make those decisions. It is that knowledge of who I am as a daughter of God, and knowing why I am here, and knowing where I am going! It is that knowledge that helps me to understand that every decision I make is important. There is more to this - it's worth everything.

How I live my faith

Being a Christian isn't just a Sunday thing - it's takes commitment. It takes every minute, every hour, every day being committed to the gospel of Christ, to having the desire to do what is right and acting upon it. I serve in the Young Women's program in our local ward. There I work with girls ages 12-18. I strive to help them develop a greater Faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. To help them understand that they are precious daughters of our Heavenly Father. The importance of Service, and how every decision we make is important. It is so rewarding to see a young women truly grasp these principles. I also volunteer as a volleyball coach at our local high school in the community. There I not only get to teach volleyball skills, but also important life skills such as dedication, team-work and so-forth. I love to serve, especially the youth.

Another way I live my faith is by studying the scriptures and having family prayer. Even though our family now just consists of my husband and myself I still enjoy those nights we truly feast upon the scriptures. I know that this is very important, because I can see the joy that it brings into our home when we do this, the greater love we have for each other. There is a great power in studying the words of the Lord and I know that, because I can see that in my own home.

A wonderful part of our faith is that we believe that Families can be together forever. Not only does this bring a great comfort and peace into my life, but it also gives me a greater determination to live the gospel daily and be the best that I can be, so that I may be with my family forever!
